Optical coherence tomography or intravascular ultrasound?

چکیده
Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) has been an important modality in understanding the in vivo pathophysiology of coronary artery disease and in predicting outcome of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The IVUS features associated with acute coronary syndromes include positive remodeling, large plaque burden, ruptured plaque, and intracoronary thrombus. Plaque burden, lesion site calcium, and positive remodeling have been reported to be associated with no-reflow phenomenon and periprocedural myocardial necrosis after PCI (1,2).

Diverse Findings in Calcified Thrombus Between Histopathology and In Vivo Imaging Including Intravascular Ultrasound, Optical Coherence Tomography, and Angioscopy.
A 46-year-old woman on hemodialysis due to end-stage renal disease was admitted for repeated thrombus formation in previously implanted drug-eluting stents in the right coronary artery. We could successfully aspirate this thrombus, and histopathology revealed a calcified thrombus comprising multiple microcalcifications and fibrinous materials. This is the first report showing how a calcified th...
متن کاملCulprit segments identified by optical coherence tomography in patients with acute myocardial infarction: two case reports.
The high resolution of optical coherence tomography (OCT) provides detailed information about coronary plaque morphology, which enables the mechanism of acute myocardial infarction to be evaluated. We describe two patients with acute myocardial infarction in whom culprit segments were identified by OCT, but not by either coronary angiography or intravascular ultrasound.

e graphic follow-up was carried out only in patients with suspected SR based on clinical symptoms compatible with this diagnosis or ischemia observed in noninvasive tests. Intravascular ultrasound or optical coherence tomography was used in half the patients, and thus the number of undiagnosed SF could have been even higher. Furthermore, optical coherence tomography is still used infrequently, ...
متن کاملThe Diagnosis of Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection by Optical Coherence Tomography
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is rare, but it frequently presents as acute myocardial infarction. It is frequently fatal and most cases are diagnosed at autopsy. We herein present the case of a 65-year-old woman with ST-elevation and myocardial infarction due to SCAD. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) helped us to confirm the diagnosis. The information on the intravascular morp...

Intravascular images of coronary stenosis by antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) would be beneficial to understand the mechanism of this disease. A 59-year-old woman with APS/systemic lupus erythematosis (SLE) underwent emergent coronary angiography which revealed stenosis with micro channels in the proximal left anterior descending artery. According to optical coherence tomography (OCT), the centr...
